Those of you who’ve been readers for a while know that I love Mondays.
Yes, yes, I know, I’m weird. Let me explain.
Mondays are great because of what they represent.
They’re a fresh start to the week. It doesn’t matter how good or bad last week went. You get the opportunity to try again or improve what’s already great.
Mondays are the sunrise of the week. They show you the possibilities of the week and can inspire you to work hard.
And yes, of course, we know that Mondays were invented by people. Tribes had very different ways of measuring time, but eventually, most humans adopted the Gregorian calendar—and here we are.
Earth doesn’t know or care what day it is, but we humans give Monday meaning. We’ve chosen 7 days to be the length of the cycle and Monday is first.
Monday is the micro-starting block of your life and career. It’s where you can plan for the week ahead, set goals, and recap what went wrong.
Monday is where you can forgive yourself and start fresh.
Monday is an opportunity. Monday is getting back on the horse. Monday is a wake-up call.
Monday is a great day.
Happy Monday.
I used to loathe Mondays. These days, I'm inclined to agree with you—wholeheartedly. I also love mornings. I particularly love the early part of the mornings—for the same reasons you lay out here.
