I don't believe in random acts of kindness
The Daily Drip
I don't believe in random acts of kindness.
Yes, we should all be treating each other with respect and helping each other--that's not the part that I have a problem with.
The part that's problematic is the random part.
Random is too inconsistent and unreliable.
It's less guaranteed to happen and the feeling has to hit you in just the right way.
I believe in constant acts of kindness.
I believe in building systems in our lives that help us help others.
Here are some quick examples:
Take 2 minutes to set a reminder on your smartphone or your Google Calendar that says "text your mom."
Or try "thank someone for being your friend."
You could even say "You're not as good or as bad as you think. Keep going and be nice to yourself."
You're going to continue to walk through life with a ton of urgencies and emergencies. They won't always let you be consistent or helpful. This is such an easy, small way to make sure you're practicing what you preach.
Go forth and help people, today.
Start with you.
Start with building systems.
