This children's book is profound
The Daily Drip
In the children's book The Little Prince, we learn a pretty big lesson from The Fox.
"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
We learn lots of lessons about people in this book, but this one is about The Prince's rose. He's spent time watering it and caring for it--which forges a strong relationship.
The lesson here is that it's these relationships we have with others that make our lives meaningful. It's the time and attention we give each other that helps us understand and care for each other. It's also a reminder that the superficial things around us aren't important to our development or to our long-term happiness.
We humans like to relearn this lesson quite a bit.
What are the essential things or relationships around you right now?
Today is a good day to remind yourself of what is essential and to remind yourself of the non-essential things on which you're spending your time and attention.
