I think, finally, this pandemic is starting to grind me down. I’m basically in the most fortunate position of anyone—but it’s finally wearing on me.
I can work from home. I can go outside without being nose-to-nose with other big city inhabitants. My life isn’t upside down. I have it about as good as it can get.
Even so, the last few weeks have been harder and I’m not sure how or why.
This comic made me laugh. It’s funny and it’s true. Sometimes, we don’t need much to change our mood. Sometimes we do.
That last paragraph rhymed completely by accident, and no one can take that from me.

So, I know I’m not blowing minds or giving you some profound life lesson, today—but I still think this is worth sharing. If you’re like me and you’re feeling the grind, it might be a good time to retrospect about the activities, hobbies, or thoughts that help lift you out of depressive or non-productive moods.
Obviously, the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t a mood. It’s a pandemic. It’s an external factor and we need to treat it like one. But sometimes, those same tools we use to get ourselves out of a rut can help take the edge off external factors.
Anyway, I’m curious what new habits or hobbies you’ve started that are helping you deal with lockdowns, masks, and a tremendous dip in typical social interactions. I think we could all use a little more teamwork these days.
I've been reading a lot more - our library has a great resource for access to free e-books. Other things include spending more time planning healthy & simple meals, refining a sustainable exercise routine, and relishing mindful & quiet moments in the day to connect with God.
Trying to find small ways to be kind to myself and others helps to keep a positive mental attitude.
