Perspective, data, forgiveness, and hope.
The Daily Drip
One of my favorite things about getting older is learning more about myself.
I have way more data on past behavior, thought patterns, and growth.
This is even better if you have a track record of amazing success and all your data say you're on a wicked trajectory.
But if you're a human like me, you probably have a mix of wins and losses.
The hard part, then, is retrospecting and learning how to do things differently next time.
I still fail at this. In fact, I'm expecting to continue to fail at this. I think this is one of those "it takes a lifetime to learn" kinda things.
This is important because the relationship we've built with ourselves over the years informs how we think about our futures. If we've built a habit of failing at projects, we think we're failures and it's much harder to trust ourselves with big goals.
If we've built a habit of remembering both our wins and our losses, we have a much better chance of setting smarter goals and figuring out how to push ourselves to the next level.
I love getting older.
More perspective. More data. More forgiveness. More hope.
Happy Monday.
