What happens when you forget to breathe?

The Daily Drip
A friend of mine was telling me about the app on his Apple Watch that reminds him to breathe.
The message is something like "Just taking a few seconds a day to remember to breathe helps with mood."
This might be true, but what's funny is that left to its default settings, this notification interrupts multiple times per day.
If you're like me and you like getting into the flow of your work, this does the opposite of the intended effect--it just interrupts you.
This is such a great example of humans getting in our own way.
We don't need all the interruptions and reminders to have uninterrupted focus.
For me, it's more helpful to remove distractions so I can focus better in the first place.
Maybe this doesn't work if you're doing work you really don't like to do--but I think for most of us, this is true.
What's a tool you've used to make a problem go away but it actually makes it worse?
So much of progress is just getting out of our own way.
