Recovering from peak performance
The Daily Drip
If a genie granted me three wishes, one of them would probably be the ability to have consistently high energy without any need for rest/sleep/recovery.
That would be amazing.
Until then, I have to manage my intensity with my recovery. This is hard. I want to work all night. I want to do all the things.
I can't.
The idea that "you just need to work harder" isn't useful after a certain amount of hard work.
Peak performance happens in a moment. It's a peak. It's not sustained.
It's up to each of us to know what our minds and bodies need to perform--either at a sustainable level or at a momentary peak.
Since I get anxious when I'm lounging around (I can't watch TV because of this), I choose activities that make me feel recharged.
I choose activities like running, camping, and travel (there are plenty more).
I've learned enough about myself to know that I am typically rejuvenated when I return.
What do you do to recover? I can't wait to hear what works for you
