Has your life been changed by COVID?
If you're like me, the answer is certainly "yes."
In fact, for most people, I think that's true.
When I think about you and the relationship we have, I realize that there is probably a lot more I can do to help.
When I think about the most difficult situations I've been in, I realize that there was really only way I was able to stay sane and get through them.
What's weird is that it wasn't a productivity hack. It wasn't a trick or tactic. It definitely wasn't the Eisenhower decision matrix.
This is going to sound cheesy and corny but I don't care.
The thing that helped me get through my most difficult times was:
Being part of a team.
One of the most undervalued and overlooked strategies we have to manage difficulty involves not just our analytical side, but our social and emotional sides.
That means we're leaving out a huge part of our solution resources!
What do we do when we get laid off? We reach out to our network. We find recruiters. We ask a friend to look over a resume.
I don't know about you, but I know quite a few people who have lost their jobs over the last couple of weeks.
So, what's this big experiment all about?
A while back, I played around with the idea of setting up a slack group. (Slack is a messaging platform that allows teams to share files, have conversations about specific topics, and plan shenanigans together.) I even invited a small pilot group to test some engagement.
Well, I think it's time to go full blast.
Here's your invite link.
You can even share this link with others in your community who might need some extra support and attention right now. It's totally open, totally free, and will not expire.
Wait, so what do I get?
First of all, you don't have to do anything. You can join and just watch the messages whiz by if you want. I want to leave space for introverts to be present and get value from this.
Next, this is a place where you can share and request resources. If you need a job, a resume review, or just someone to cheer you on, this is the place. We're all in this together.
After that, you'll meet people like you! You might not know it, but there are hundreds of you readers out there. You wouldn't be here if you weren't interested in continuous improvement and productivity. I have a feeling that you are going to love interacting with each other and working side-by-side.
Finally, I will be carving out "Problem Solving Workshops" where you can bring personal and business problems to the surface so we can collaboratively solve them!
Let's face it.
Life is just easier to face when you're part of a team that is all rowing in the same direction.
Feedback is welcome.
I can't wait to meet you.
:)
